Mare Island Aglow Holiday Lighted Trail Walk

  • Mare Island San Pablo Bay Trail A St. and Azuar Dr. Vallejo, CA, 94592 United States (map)

The Mare Island Aglow Holiday Lighted Trail Walk returns to Mare Island beginning Thanksgiving Evening and continuing through Sunday evening, January 2, 2022 following New Year's Day weekend nights 5:00pm-8:00pm. In addition to the weekend hours, the Mare Island Aglow Holiday Lighted Trail Walk will be open daily Friday, December 24th through Sunday, January 2nd. Like most Mare Island Heritage Trust hosted events, the evening event is free, although donations are appreciated. There is no registration required. Simply meet at the Trailhead anytime between 5:00pm-8:00pm.

The Lighted Trail Walk, a self-guided walk, starts at the main trailhead at the parking lot located at the end of A St/Dump Road, a 3/4 mile gravel road off of Azuar Dr. on Mare Island in Vallejo. The Trail follows a compacted gravel trail route leading to the northernmost shores of San Pablo Bay, the largest of the 4 bays in the San Francisco Bay Estuary. Once hikers reach the Bay, spectacular scenic night vistas include the towns of Crockett, Rodeo and Hercules, with more distant views of the night lights of several Bay Area counties.

No dogs and no bicycles are allowed on the San Pablo Bay Trail. The trail is generally mobility-challenged accessible, unless there has been heavily wet weather.

Hot drinks and Holiday themed snacks will be available for purchase.
