DIY Cat Tree: Make your own cat structure!

  • Vallejo JFK Library 505 Santa Clara Street Vallejo, CA, 94590 United States (map)

Make a DIY cat scratching tree using the provided materials and tools. This is a hands-on program where you will create your own structure. Come prepared to tinker and figure. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

This program will be held in our JFK Makerspace. As a makerspace program, the expectation is for participants to take an active role in their creative learning. Creating the cat structure will involve screwing pieces of wood together and gluing carpet and sisal rope. Children over the age of 10 are welcome to participate, but they must come with an individual at least 15 years of age or older. While families are welcome to register, in order to provide materials for as many participants as possible, we are limiting the workshop to one cat structure per household.

Since this is a DIY workshop, participants should feel confident independently using the following:

  • Power drill

  • Screwdriver

  • Rotary cutter

  • Hot glue gun

  • Box cutter

  • Cardboard box cutter

  • Ruler

*With permission, participants are welcome to bring your own parts from home for a customized cat structure. Please speak with the adult librarian or library associate if you would like to do this.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be permitted to use your own parts without prior confirmation with a staff member. Be sure to make prior arrangements.

Free class, registration required.
