On Sunday, November 16, 2025, the City of Vallejo, in partnership with the Vallejo City Unified School District and the PitCCh-In Foundation, will be honoring baseball legend, philanthropist, and hometown hero Charles Carsten “CC” Sabathia. The event will take place on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Vallejo High School’s Corbus Field (840 Nebraska Street, Vallejo, CA).
To recognize his achievements and contributions, CC will be presented with a proclamation, honorary street renaming, and a key to the city. The gates will open at 11:00 AM for children’s activities, and the official ceremony will begin at 1 PM with the official program. The event is open to the public.
In July of this year, CC Sabathia, Vallejo native and Vallejo High Alumnus, was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in recognition of a stellar baseball career, which included pitching for three MLB teams, over 3000 strikeouts, 251 wins, the 2007 American League Cy Young Award, and the 2009 American League Championship Series MVP. In 26 postseason games, Sabathia was 10-7 with 121 strikeouts in 130 innings. He was elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot, receiving 86.8% of the vote.
Throughout his successful baseball career, CC and his family looked for opportunities to give back and to support the youth and families of Vallejo. CC, Amber, his wife, and Margie, his mother, established the PitCCh-In Foundation. The foundation’s focus is meeting the needs of children and families in the inner cities of New York City and Vallejo through philanthropic means, along with contributions of time and presence. The Foundation sponsors free baseball camps in Vallejo and is the largest annual donor to the Vallejo Teacher Store, where ALL teachers in the Vallejo City Unified School District can come and shop for FREE for school supplies.
