About the Artist

Primarily self-taught, Lori Bywater Lautze has always been driven by a deep creative impulse. Over the years, she has explored a wide range of artistic mediums and approaches.

In 2017, after encountering an exhibit of Robert Rauschenberg’s work, Lori began creating with galvanized steel, ink, found objects, and clockworks—marking a pivotal shift in her practice.

Inspired by the complexities of both the natural world and human nature, as well as a sense of humor and life’s challenges and mysteries, assemblage has become her primary and most resonant form of expression.

Exhibiting concurrently in the Tim Rose Gallery, the Fiber Expressions Group presents Honoring Our Bay Area Heritage, a fiber arts group exhibition.
