Congratulations to Jennie Schultz of Santa Rosa whose name was drawn from those who correctly answered “Cary Grant” to last month’s question: In 1954’s “A Star Is Born” shown at the Empress Theatre on January 8th, what actor initially accepted the role of Norman Maine but later turned it down because it was a role as a has-been actor? Jennie received two Premier Passes for PIER 39 (a $108 value). Each pass includes one cruise aboard Blue & Gold’s Bay Cruise.

Inspired by the urging of Robin Leong, of the Napa-Solano Audubon Society, Myrna Hayes and Marc Holmes while staffers of Save San Francisco Bay Association crafted an event that would introduce the Bay Area public to the world of birding, the fastest growing outdoor recreation in America. As part of a project called the Partnership for San Pablo Baylands, the San Francisco Bay Flyway Festival was founded in what month and year?
The winner chosen from a drawing of correct entries will win a pair of tickets for Six Flags Discovery Kingdom which opens their 2010 season on Saturday, March 6th!

In celebration of February as Black History Month, the Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum will open a new exhibit, An Enduring Legacy: History of the North Bay African-American Community from 1850-1950, on February 20th. Did you know that the first African-American school teacher (1949) in Vallejo was named Grace Logan-Patterson and that an elementary school in the Vallejo Unified School District bears her name, Grace Patterson Elementary School. |

On February 26th & 27th, the MIRA Theatre Guild presents An Evening with Mark Twain (for adults on the 26th and for kids on the 27th). Lane has been portraying the humor of Samuel L. Clemens for over 21 years. Do you know, Lane claims, that Mark Twain smoked 40 cigars a day and still live 74 years? |
