Congratulations to Kelly Moore, from Vallejo, CA whose name was drawn from those who correctly answered last month’s question: On Friday, October 30th, the Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum held their annual fund raiser with the Halloween theme: Celebrate Vallejo - Ghosts of Vallejo’s Past. Can you name the ghost who has been known to haunt Building 77 on Mare Island? The answer was “the ghost of Lieutenant Wilson. The winner received four (4) FREE passes to Comedy at the Cantina with Matt Larson at Babe’s Bar & Grill (Total Value: $40.00)

One of our newest members, East Brother Lighthouse, or more accurately a Light Station, is a beautifully restored Victorian Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast Inn perched atop an island in the strait that separates San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. How many rooms are available for overnight stays?
The winner chosen from a drawing of correct entries will win two tickets to Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (valued over $60.00).
Please email your answers to info@visitvallejo.com.

Did you know that not only does St. Peter's Chapel on Mare Island contain the largest collection of Tiffany stained glass windows in the west but this 1901 chapel is the oldest naval chapel in the United States?
|
 |
Did you know that the Battleship USS Iowa is the only U.S. Navy ship to have a bathtub on board? It was added in 1943 for use by President Franklin Roosevelt as he traveled to the Tehran Conference to meet with Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin and Chiang Kai-Shek.

Health concerns that can affect the travel industry are important to the Vallejo CVB. With that in mind and as we enter the flu season, we present the following common sense health tips from the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
• Wash your hands often with soap and water. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
• Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, and manage your stress.
• Drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious foods.
• Try to avoid close contact with sick people |
