Congratulations to Mike Lerseth from Vallejo, CA whose name was drawn from those who correctly answered USS Nipsic to last month’s question: If you are frequent walker or runner along Vallejo’s waterfront, you will see a propeller from an unidentified Navy ship. Can you name the ship? Mike wins a $30 gift certificate for Zio Fraedo’s of Vallejo restaurant and two tickets aboard the Blue & Gold Fleet’s NEW RocketBoat high speed adventure on the San Francisco Bay (Value $23 each).

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series makes its only Northern California stop during the 2009 racing season at Infineon Raceway for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 on Father’s Day Weekend, June 19-21. How many times as former Vallejoan, Jeff Gordon, won this race in Sonoma?
Please email your answers to info@visitvallejo.com. The winner chosen from a drawing of correct entries will win a two (2) Premier Passes for PIER 39 (value of over $80.00).

Did you know that Juneteenth is the oldest celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States? And, that the Vallejo Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20th, entitled African American Family Reunion Celebration, was modeled after the celebration adopted by the National Council of Negro Women? |

 |
The Northern California Pirate Festival returns to the Vallejo Waterfront on Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21. Did you know that Pirate ships flew Jolly Roger flags featuring motifs intended to intimidate, including skulls, crossbones, swords, skeletons, bleeding hearts and hourglasses, meant to symbolize that time was running out?
