Congratulations to Matt Thompson from Benicia, CA whose name was drawn from those who correctly answered correctly answered last month’s two-part question:
What year was Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s Medusa, the first floorless roller coaster on the West Coast, introduced and what is the top speed reached while riding this thrill ride? The answers were 2000 and 65 miles per hour. The winner received a free Six Flags Discovery Kingdom t-shirt.

Vallejo recently entertained a delegation from one of our six sister cities, Baguio, Philippines. Can you name the year the Vallejo Sister City Association was established and the first city to become a Vallejo sister city? The winner must answer both parts of the question correctly in order to win this month’s prize of a $25 Gift Certificate to City Lights Cantina.
Please email your answers to info@visitvallejo.com

Did you know that Vallejo had a “Punkin’ Center?” Located on the east side of old Highway 40, just south of Georgia Street, “Punkin’ Center” was a popular family destination in the 1940s and ‘50s. Children could enjoy pony rides, kiddie cars, and a merry-go-round. Highway 40 was replaced by Interstate 80 in the early 60s. (Source: Images of America: Vallejo, by James E. Kern) |

Did you know that the Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum was the Vallejo City Hall before it was a museum? It was 1927 when Vallejo opened their new City Hall at 734 Marin Street. It was also the same year that the Carquinez Bridge opened putting Vallejo on the main highway connecting San Francisco with Sacramento and points east.
