Only Solano County can give you a former naval shipyard with drydocks and buildings dating back to before the Civil War (Mare Island), a collection of over 80 ships (Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet) and an actual 1853 State Capitol building (Benicia). We also have a railroad museum with working trains and street cars (Suisun City), a United States Air Force base (Fairfield), and a theme park with everything from a killer whale, walrus', elephants, and other animals of all types (Vallejo).
Rural parts of Solano County feature vineyards and working wineries (Fairfield), farms, and ranches (Dixon, Vacaville, Rio Vista), and bay, river, and delta waterfront (Benicia, Vallejo, Rio Vista).
