It is always best to contact the Vallejo/Solano County Film Office by
calling (707) 642-3653 for the best possible guidance throughout the
process of securing city, county, or state permits in Solano County.
General Requirements: Most city, county, and state governmental
agencies require the following documentation in order to secure a
permit:
- Sufficient Time: Please allow sufficient time to prepare the
paperwork, review the
locations, arrange for personnel needed and to issue the permit. Please
realize that most of the agencies issuing permits have many other
duties and while they are quite cooperative, this is not their only
function.
- Certificate of Insurance: Proof of insurance which additionally
insures the municipality in which you are working, with limits ranging
from $1 million to $5 million, depending upon the perceived risk level
of your project. The normal requirement is $1 million.
- Written Location Breakdown: Include dates, times, planned rain
dates, parking requirements, and other arrangements needed by your
company. You may be required to canvass the areas of filming to obtain
signatures from merchants, residents, and property owners affected.
- Payment: Payment for your permit needs to be submitted prior to
filming and issuance of your permit in most cases.
We understand that filming details often change at the last minute but
filing a permit early allows time to make necessary contacts and makes
filming a smoother process for all concerned.
