Population: 27,000. Tucked along the northern edge of the Carquinez Strait, Benicia has many “small town” locations and yet it is less than 45 minutes from San Francisco. The former California State Capitol still stands as does many of the old buildings in the former Benicia Army Arsenal. This city also has many beautiful neighborhoods full of victorians, cottages, and waterfront homes.
