Cartoonists have long created rich environments in which their characters live, work, and play. From the minimalism of Peanuts to the lush surroundings of Pogo’s Okefenokee Swamp, the Charles M. Schulz Museum presents an in-depth look at the choices cartoonists have made when creating the places their cartoon characters inhabit. This exhibition, the final installment of the The Language of Lines trilogy, explores the famous settings of many classic comics.

On display this year will be the actual motorcycle driven by Burt Munro when he set a still–standing International Speed Record in 1967 at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Burt spent years perfecting his 1920 Indian Motorcycle until it was capable of over 200 miles per hour, much faster than its original 54 miles per hour. Burt and his motorcycle were the subject of the movie The World’s Fastest Indian starring Anthony Hopkins. More than 200 operating scale models of Internal Combustion, Steam and Hot Air engines will be on display and running at the exhibition. Displaying their miniature engines from antique farm engines to modern supercharged V-8’s, the builders of these operating marvels will be there to talk with show visitors. Visitors of all ages will find fascinating examples of these engines and educational displays that demonstrate how the engines work. 9-5pm Saturday, 9-3pm Sunday. $7.00/indvdl $10.00/family.

There will be four events conducted this summer at a park in the city. Each event will be held the second Saturday of the month beginning in June. These events will feature a two-hour live musical performance, art displays including paintings, sculptures and other art forms in a festive atmosphere, and attendance is $2.00 today but childless attendees may only enjoy the theater area.
