5th Annual Mad Hatter Holiday Festival, Parade & Tree Lighting - Sat. Dec. 6

Mad Hatter Holiday Festival in Historic Downtown Vallejo. "California's most whimsical fantasy Holiday happening" Entrance to the Festival, Parade & Tree Lighting is free to the community. The Mad Hatter Holiday Festival activities begin at 2PM in Unity Plaza in front of the JFK Library, with music, food, train rides, dancing horses and Alice in Wonderland characters. The Mad Hatter Parade starts at 4:30PM down Georgia Street from Sonoma to Santa Clara ― ending at the Festival with Vallejo’s official Tree Lighting Ceremony beginning at 6PM and continuing with the Lighted Boat Parade at 6:30PM.

Watch Santa arrive on the firing Trojan horse, meet the Ladybug, look through the oversized Steampunk Kaleidoscope, meet the Gypsy Time Travelers in their European Castle, ride in the Mad Hatter’s Giant Sofa, or on any of the whimsical wagons and Victorian recreations that come out of Alice’s Wonderland. As one of Vallejo’s star attractions, the Mad Hatter Festival, Parade and Tree Lighting is an experience that everyone should have on their bucket list. Mark your calendars to watch the Burning Man fire-shooting art mobiles, whimsical art cars, marching bands, costumed characters, California Maritime Cadets in full blues and dancing the waltz ― among other surprises. The day is full of interesting, creative, and unique activities. Some will enchant, others will be magical or surreal. You'll see in the Festival the larger than life Mad Hatter and his Tea Party followers, the March Hare, Lion King and Cheshire Cat ― an experience that will bring childhood memories back and create new ones for children. There will be street carolers, musicians and photos with Santa. You’ll be glad that you stepped into the rabbit hole and entered wonderland in Vallejo! Continue with Alice’s Holiday Adventure at Greater Vallejo Recreation District’s Wonderland Park’s Tree Lighting at 7PM on Glen Street. Or make your way back up Georgia Street to Dance Unlimited (510 Georgia Street) for the Mad Hatter Costume Ball with the Grand Ballroom opening at 7:30PM for $25, including food & drink. (Receive $5 discount by purchasing tickets by midnite on Wednesday, December 3: Be entertained with Anne Marie & Fiddlaround, an acoustic trio that features Americana music at its best, weaving an infectious blend of fiddle tunes, swamp boogie, blues, Cajun, and country music from Louisiana, Texas, and California for a toe-tapping good time; Raymond Victor: The Used Blues Band, offering foot-stomping bluegrass music; and San Francisco’s popular musical lads from Ireland plus a few American players: The Shams. A hard rocking, fiddle playing, punk-infused group that has built a solid fan base in the San Francisco Bay area. During breaks, you will experience the swing and jitterbug dance groups heating up the room with their energy and skillful performances—maybe learn a step or two if you want.
